All lessons are conducted in a Vauxhall Corsa fitted with dual controls. It may be necessary to use the dual controls occasionally, but by reading situations early this can usually be avoided by giving verbal assistance beforehand. If the dual controls are used for any reason the pupil is informed.

All Approved Driving Instructors have to go through the stringent DSA testing process before reaching fully qualified status. Once qualified as an ADI, a green badge is issued.

Keith Fawcett is a DSA Approved Driving Instructor. Verication may be obtained by contacting DSA. The badge is always on display when the vehicle is in use for learner driver training.

It is also important to point out that the vehicle is fully insured for driver training and tests conducted by DSA examiners. Cover also exists for public liability and professional indemnity.

There has been recent debate concerning the number of hours worked by instructors and the effect a long working week can have on instructor alertness.

Giving instruction can be a very intense activity and recent advice from Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers indicates that instructors should provide a maximum of 30 hours lesson time per week.

This is the current policy at Drive Chester, ensuring that the safety of the instructor, pupil and general public is uncompromised.
