PassPlus

Pass Plus is a voluntary scheme for newly qualified car drivers. It consists of 6 modules of 1 hour duration, designed to increase experience and improve the safety of new drivers.

The course incorporates driver training in the following areas:

• Town driving
• Rural (country) roads
• Adverse weather conditions
• Dual carriageway driving
• Night driving
• Motorway driving

After completion of the course you could be eligible for a discount on your car insurance that is equal to, or greater than, the cost of the course! There is no test to take. The cost of Pass Plus is £150. For more information on the course visit the PassPlus website.

Initial analysis of a recent DSA survey has shown that new drivers' confidence in their own ability is generally alot lower about 6-12 months after passing their test than it is immediately after passing.

Worryingly, around 20% of those surveyed had an accident in the first six months after passing their test. This is allied to the fact that only about 15% of people had taken advantage of the Passplus scheme! The benefits are obvious, there dont seem to be any reasons not to take the course...
